Retirement Line has successfully achieved Cyber Essentials certification, a UK Government-backed standard designed to help organisations protect themselves against the most common cyber threats.
The certification confirms that important security measures are in place across our systems. It reinforces our commitment to keeping our customers’ personal and financial information safe and secure.
Cyber Essentials is supported by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) and focuses on protecting organisations against everyday online risks such as phishing emails, malicious software and unauthorised access to systems. For customers, this means added reassurance that sensible, recognised protections are in place behind the scenes.
As part of the certification process, Retirement Line’s systems and working practices were centrally assessed and independently verified to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place. These include controls that help protect our systems, limit access to authorised users only, and ensure software is kept up to date. Together, these measures help reduce the risk of cyber incidents and strengthen the security of the information we hold.
Protecting our customers
Retirement Line works with sensitive personal and financial information every day. Protecting that information is a fundamental responsibility and something we take extremely seriously. Strong cyber security forms a key part of how we look after our customers and maintain their trust.
Cyber crime continues to be a growing concern across many industries, particularly for financial services companies that hold valuable personal data. By achieving Cyber Essentials certification, Retirement Line has demonstrated that we meet recognised baseline standards for cyber security and follow best practice to protect customer information.
For our customers, the certification provides additional peace of mind that we have appropriate safeguards in place and that protecting their data remains a core priority for our business.
Commenting on the certification, Mark Ormston, Chief Compliance Officer at Retirement Line, said:
“Our customers trust us with important personal and financial information, and we take that responsibility extremely seriously. Achieving Cyber Essentials certification is an important step in demonstrating our commitment to protecting that data and maintaining strong cyber security standards across the business.
“The certification also supports our wider approach to good governance, risk management and data protection, including compliance with UK data protection legislation. It forms part of our ongoing effort to ensure that our systems, processes and people continue to reflect best practice.”
Continual attention to cyber security
While Cyber Essentials focuses on protecting against the most common cyber threats, Retirement Line recognises that cyber security is not a one-off exercise. We will continue to review and strengthen our controls, keep pace with emerging risks and ensure that all employees understand the important role they play in keeping information secure.
